Data centre operators under new regulations in Saudi

The Kingdom’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has kicked off the New Year with the enforcement of new Data Centre Services Regulations, as of 1st January 2024. The regulations – part of a wider plan to drive digital transformation – aims to encourage growth within the sector and create an attractive environment for investment. Saudi sees 40% growth in cloud computing

Per Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce, cloud computing permits increased 40% in 2023, while Google has indicated that the impact of the cloud economy will be $109bn in the Kingdom and that the sector has the potential to add 148,600 jobs by 2030. Read more…

center 3 unveils two new state-of-the art data centre facilities in Eastern Province

The Dammam Data Center spreads across 24,000 square meters with a total power of 19.5 MW and is designed for high scalability, featuring 8 data halls and space for 1200 racks, 150 per hall. The AlKhobar Data Center extends over 35,000 square meters with a power capacity of 24.4 MW, with 10 data halls and capacity for up to 1500 racks. Read more…

PIF named 2023 top global investor

Saudi’s PIF spent $31.6 billion in 49 deals in 2023, according to Global SWF’s new report, making it the world’s top sovereign wealth investor. This includes investments such as $4.9 billion for the US gaming company Scopely and $8.1 billion in gaming companies Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts and Take-Two. Read more…
