Stc launches 2Africa Pearl subsea cable and data centre projects in the Kingdom

Telco giant, stc, has launched its 2Africa Pearl subsea cable system in Bahrain, one of the longest cable systems in the world, along with a Data Centre Park. The company has said the projects, part of a $300mn investment, will support its strategy of driving international expansion and growth through ICT investments. The Data Centre Park, spanning 55,000 sq.m, is planned to scale up to 60MW of IT load and the site is designed to be energy-efficient, aligning with the Kingdom’s commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2060…Read more

KSA launches $100bn AI digital infrastructure mega investment package

Saudi Arabia has unveiled plans for a $100bn investment into AI, called ‘Project Transcendence’. The initiative aims to position the Kingdom as a global AI leader, narrowing the gap between Saudi Arabia and leading nations like the US, China, and recently, the UAE. Equinix opens its sixth Middle Eastern data centre in Salalah

Dubbed SN1, and located in Salalah, this new data centre adds to Equinix’s facilities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and marks its second facility in Oman. The facility will be directly connected with Equinix’s MC1 data centre in Muscat through a fibre-optic cable, providing carriers, hyperscalers, content providers, and cloud service providers the ability to co-locate their critical infrastructure. Ericsson signs 6G MoU with e&

UAE-based teclo e& and Ericsson have signed a MoU to explore 6G technology concepts, aiming to develop use cases and future network evolution. Though 6G is not anticipated to launch until the end of this decade, at the earliest, vendors such as Ericsson, Nokia, and Huawei have been working on the technology for a number of years.
