Oracle likely to boost cloud offering in the UAE and Saudi Arabia
Thanks to high adoption rates of technology and a focus on technology innovations, the UAE and Saudi Arabia are the leading contenders for Oracle’s plans for new cloud regions. The Middle East accounts for about a fifth of Oracle’s 45 public cloud regions across 23 countries. The two countries will eventually have five Oracle cloud regions between them. Read more…

KSA’s ICT service provider Saudi Call has signed a MoA with Chinese partners LMT and CMI to build 100MW of data centre capacity, with Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Neom all set to house new hyperscale facilities. Read more…

Batelco selects SubCom to build branch of SEA-ME-WE-6, Al Khaleej Cable
SubCom will manufacture and install the Al Khaleej Cable, which is solely owned and operated by Batelco, part of the Beyon Group. Al Khaleej will branch from the 21,700km subsea SEA-ME-WE 6 cable which connects Bahrain with 14 other countries and will help to diversify routes and augment international connectivity for the region. Bahrain looks to space for IoT and cloud solutions
Bahrain-headquartered the Beyon Group has signed a MoU with LEO space system innovator E-Space to enable space-based IoT services in Bahrain. The joint development aims to create unique IoT solutions that will support uninterrupted, ‘use anywhere’, real-time IoT data services. Read more…

Sustainable data centres vital to meeting Dubai’s Net Zero Emissions 2050 target
Over 80 regional experts – including the GDCA! – and data centre industry stakeholders gathered for a Green Data Centre Seminar, hosted by DEIF, Danfoss and the Danish Trade Council to discuss the pressing need for sustainability in data centre operations as one of the crucial factors in achieving regional decarbonisation goals – particularly as Dubai’s digital economy is expected to reach more than $140 billion in 2031. Cinturion partners with du to land TEAS cable in UAE
A MoU has been signed with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) to deliver new diverse routes to du’s customers. Du will leverage Cinturion’s TEAS to boost connectivity and expand its digital capabilities across the UAE region and beyond. Kuwait plans to expand fiber optic services
The Ministry of Communications announced the country is planning to expand its fiber optic service, aiming to create more jobs and enhance competitiveness in the telecom sector in line with Kuwait Vision 2035. The ministry is coordinating with the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects, known as KAPP, on selecting a strategic partner. Read more…
