At LEAP Riyadh this week, Amazon announced the launch of their new Cloud Region in Saudi Arabia, due to be completed in 2026. PIF poises Saudi as the next global AI epicentre<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund\u2019s governor, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, has recently announced their aspirations for the Kingdom to emerge as an epicentre for AI \u2013 outside of the US. It was disclosed that PIF has allocated upwards of 70% of the fund towards projects centred around technological advancements, both in Saudi Arabia and overseas; currently, PIF has invested between $40 to $50 billion annually, which is due to increase to $70 billion a year between 2025-2030\u2026Read more<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia turn their focus to the space debris threat<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

At LEAP Riyadh last week, Mishaal Ashemimry, the GCC\u2019s first aerospace engineer and first woman of Saudi origin to work with NASA, spoke about the real threat of space debris that the world is rapidly encountering. As a result, the Kingdom are targeting this very lucrative and environmentally critical opportunity in the rubbish removal sector. Over 27,000 man-made objects currently are in the earth\u2019s orbit, putting billions of dollars of assets such as spacecraft and satellites (which support modern communication and security systems), at stake.
